Mr Slater’s Parrot

Good Dr.Digi Friyay to you! I am feeling pretty up-to-date right now, this is actually a new release! This is Mr. Slater’s Parrot (digistamp) from Dr.Digi’s House of Stamps! Why is it called that? Cos Dr.Digi loves an obscure music reference! lol. Don’t tell him I said that 😉

I had fun with this image, can you tell? Lots of personal colouring goals, hawaiian-esque shirt, Dr.Marten boots, scarlet macaw, black beard (not the pirate)…. many challenge! It would be far easier to not include all of these things but I cannot resist! 🙂 You know sometimes I may change a few details to fit my challenge?? Well I didn’t change much at all this time, imho anyway, but I did give him some eyebrows, finger nail, and a fly on his jeans! Here is what Mr.Slater looked like before I subverted him, lol –

And her a close up of my colouring, I tried to be restrained with the white posca pen highlights this time, but I think maybe I should have added some to his glasses, cracker and bird’s beak? Might do that later!

Also I used the Tartan Backing Paper Set (again) for the card. Printed straight onto 300 gsm to make my blank. I applied a translucent rainbow layer to the paper, so made rainbow tartan to match my macaw!

I have been saving this sentiment for an appropriate card for aaaageees, I try hard to remember sentiments when I see something that makes me chuckle. I was pleased to see a newly released parrot that fitted it! Hoping to do a feather colouring tutorial soon, it’s on my list!

Near the end of colouring this I realised how perfect this card would have been for my Dad, he always loved Macaws and I wonder why he never had one. I am guessing because he was worried it would out-live him? For me it’s a reminder that we should sometimes take a chance and fulfil a passion, I’d have happily inherited a Macaw. I actually inherited my Grandma’s cat, and despite being very elderly (the cat) by the time I had her, she lived as long with me as she did my Granny. I miss all of them very much.

Thanks for joining me today. Do you ever make a card that triggers lots of memories?
